Speed Bumps vs Speed Humps
We always get asked the difference between speed bumps and speed humps and in what situations each of these products is best used. Speed bumps are designed to slow traffic down to 2 to 5 mph. They are generally used in parking lots and on residential streets (often in combination with stop signs). Speed humps are designed for the purpose of slowing traffic to between 10 and 20 mph. These are more typically seen used around hospitals, schools and slightly higher traffic areas and are meant to slow traffic less abruptly and to allow emergency vehicles to still pass without having to slow down as much.
